This remake is great
My wife saw the original one over 200 times . She says the remake is fantastic. I'll take her word over the imdb deadbeats who need to move out of their parent's basement, and maybe try to kiss girl for the first time.

shareYour wife is a true Rocky fan and a real Transylvanian!
Don't Dream It, Be It!!!
I also enjoyed this tribute.
shareIt wasn't the most amazing, but it wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it enough to watch it and I liked Riff Raff and Frank and Rocky. It definitely doesn't compare to the first, but it was good. I've seen the original probably as much, been to two live shadowcasts, watched the Anniversary stage show and would love to see the show live, and I thought it was okay.
shareIt looks like these threads are going to become a pissing contest over how many times people have seen the original. I've also seen the original many times and thought this one was very good. They didn't try to "update" the script, in many cases it was a shot-for-shot remake. They also handled some of the R-rated parts they could have never done, like Frank visiting Janet and Brad in their rooms, very well. The singing was spot-on, as was the characterizations. The choreography was excellent. A fine remake.
The only slight issue I had was LaVerne Cox playing Frank because he's supposed to be a "sweet transvestite", not a sweet transexual, but that's a small issue in the long term. "Grease Live" was a mess, as was "The Sound of Music Live" -- those made me want to run to the originals to get the bad taste out of my mouth from the Fox versions, but not this one. I thought it was great!
I'd be interested to know what made you think it was a mess.
