What Would New Viewers Think of the Original?

Written elsewhere -

"But the new one is important cause it can shine a new light on the classic and introduce a whole new audience to the original."

So I watched the original the other night to wash this atrocity out of my brain. It worked slightly, I may need a dose of Shock Treatment.

So question is and I've raised this long ago... most often our opinions get formed by the first versions we see, or hear in the case of songs. If a newbie/virgin (who actually LIKES this) does decide to take a look at the original, what WILL they think?

"Why is Frank a man?"
"Why is Columbia so squeaky?"
"Why is Rocky so old?"

Etc., etc.

Well the other day I tried to reverse-engineer my thinking and wonder what impression people and young people may get. Plenty of movies have been remade over the years and who knows how many people see the remake first and the original later on!

But while watching the original with "new" eyes, I did see some things people may appreciate. It's more of an actual "film" whereas this was like a glossy music video. It might look old but the horror elements work well with that.

Hopefully we'll hear from someone who's done just that. As dreadful as this remake was even on it's own standing, it was SO bad I'm now fascinated with it!

Also, anyone here seen a lame remake first and then the classic original? Like "Total Recall", etc., and how did that work?
