Why do people get so butthurt over remakes?

Sure this will never be as great as the original, but so far it seems to be staying true to it... while putting its own spin on it. The original is not going anywhere, it's still going to be there for all to enjoy. Not only that, but RHPS has been redone so many times, this rendition just happens to be televised. Again, no need to get FURIOUS over this. It's by no means wonderful like the original, but it's not awful for it to get such a low rating and so many complaints.

It's not just with this though. I notice this with so many remakes. Mainly cult classics. So much whining.

Right?? No one could expect a live tv show to live up to the original. Just watch it for what it is and stop complaining!

reply

It's terrible in that regard too. If the original never existed and this was televised, it would be read. To. Filth.

reply

this wasn't live. grease and the nbc musicals were live, but rhps was not.

reply

Well I watched it and it was not that good.

reply

Because they have no imagination! Most of them decided long ago that it would be bad.

I like it!

The haters have never been to a midnight showing in their hipster and patchouli stinking lives! Don't Dream It, Be It !!!

reply

Amen to all of that! Too many people get their panties in a wad and take offense over NOTHING!

reply

I don't care about it being a 'remake'. I care about it being total sh!t from start to finish. Just horrible.

reply

But whining about whining is so cool though.

reply

And you're whining about whining about whining. That's cool too.

reply

Butthurt is a term that needs to go away.

reply

Why does it make you butthurt?

reply

Actually, they aired the stage version in the UK a few years back and it wasn't as sanitized as this was. Several casting mis-queues IMO and a few fresh takes on the film, like the opening with Ivy Levan came across as fresh and original.
