Why didn't they cast Caitlyn Jenner?

Can't sing or act. Not even on The Love Boat.

And stunning.
Stunning and brave.

Not enough "diversity". Caitlyn is not black enough. If they could have found someone that was black, transgender, AND disabled well then Laverne Cox would have been out of a job.

reply

LOL, yeah that's probably true. But the reason they wouldn't have cast Caitlyn Jenner is because she doesn't have that kind of talent. Bruce Jenner had been an athlete, not an actor/singer/dancer. Being transgender doesn't qualify someone for a career in show biz. Caitlyn would never have been able to imitate Tim Curry.

Bruce Jenner was in Can't Stop the Music! Does that count?

Have you ever had to sit through Can't Stop the Music?

Oh yes, many times. It's oh so gloriously bad. It's one of my guilty pleasures, along with Xanadu and The Pirate Movie.

Xanadu has always been an enormous guilty pleasure for me :)

reply

Oh, dear, I was not aware of this movie. But I looked it up and it does sound interesting, even though the rating it got was pretty bad. I'll have to check it out.

Whether or not it counts for something, I guess it depends on how good Caitlyn/Bruce was.

I will vouch for Can't Stop the Music being a campy guilty pleasure. You just can't help but smile watching it. ;D Bruce Jenner actually did a good job, though that was more screw ball comedy than Rocky Horror is.

reply

I only saw it once, more than twenty years ago, the day I got my wisdom teeth out. I was not exactly in my right mind. Part of me wants to watch it again so that I can actually remember it, but another part of me doesn't want to sully the intoxicating blur of that initial viewing.

Lol, I'm right there with you. I first saw it on VH1 back in the 90s and only recalled brief flashes of a handful of scenes. And I still kind of treasure those hazy memories, hehe.

reply

She's not an actor.
