"Watch with an open mind..."

.... i told myself.

it's never going to be a patch on the film. and tim's in it (seal of approval). they redo the stage show from time to time. watch with an open mind. see it as a tribute, if nothing else.

so i knew it was never going to be as great as the film.

right now i'm at the part where everyone is (not) being turned to stone.

it had the potential to be okay. brad, janet, riff-raff (ralph?!), started it off okay. laverne cox had promise, was good in some moments, but should have been great. magenta was bearable, columbia was just fkn awful. dr scott was even worse.

the acting was abysmal.

where was the energy?!

my verdict: there were some okay moments (the idea of audience participation, some of the costumes), some ridiculous bits ("touch-a touch me" was just bad-a bad, eddie's death, and - erm - "mind GAME?!").

okay, i watched it with a fair mind. i won't be doing the time warp with this version again.

I actually found it better than the original except Tim Curry was not Frank. As he is the best Frank ever.

I agree claireus, I went into it with an open mind, I have seen the stage shows so I kept in mind that this was a tribute, but... It didn't have the fun of a stage show, the comedy of the film or the energy in general. It felt a bit rushed and there was too much focus on Brad, Janet, and Frank n further, without any other character development for the rest or even the mystery of riff raff and magenta, Colombia just passed me off because she was meant to be an upbeat groupie, not a wingy emo. There were good bits, the bedroom 'it's you' scene was the best interpretation I have seen though, so kudos to them for that.
