Why was the Rock so happy about being in this garbage?

I have to admit I got a little bit excited when there were news that the Rock Really Really wanted to be in this movie,
I remember some tweets or some news that he was really happy about getting the role.

But why? the movie doesn't depict the real story of Hercules and the movie is just a genetic cliche war movie. It brings absolutely nothing new to the table and instead it just feels like a big rip off of other movies like Gladiator or 300....

This was not even the real Hercules. from his enthusiasm I thought we were getting a proper movie based on the 12 labors or something. (Then the trailers completely lied about this too, wtf)

I know. It was predictable. The only good Hercules movie seems to be the Disney version, and it barely follows the story. It's only good cause it's Disney. No other movie I can think of is even noteworthy.

Because it required a guy with big muscles and their aren't many in Hollywood.
