It's so obvious the way they set that up. The intentional shoulder wound in Scream 4. Plus she was so bored with her life, what better way to encourage some teens to give her a story? Gale would be the only character to have a decent motive in Scream 5.

It would make sense. Gale was rooting for another book, so she pushed some nutcases into starting another set of murders. She was jealous of Sidney being in the spotlight, as shown in Scream 4. It would explain why Jill hesitated when she had her gun on Gale. I was rooting for Gale to be the killer for the next scream
