Only Way I Think a Scream Sequel/Reboot Would Work Now

Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson are what made the first Scream such a classic. Craven passing is such a tragic event as he was one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, RIP Wes! But now the only way I think a scream sequel or even reboot will work is if they bring in a great horror director, someone who can compare to Wes Craven. Some examples include James Wan (I think a Scream film directed by James Wan and written by Kevin Williamson, would be extremely interesting to say the least), John Carpenter (he's coming back as executive producer for a Halloween Sequel, maybe he can direct and bring justice a scream sequel. This could just work!! If anyone can bring justice to the original characters in future sequels, its Williamson himself, along with a great horror director who has shown they know how to create horror. I would also like to see if they could somehow include the Scream TV series characters as well, as I'm a fan of the show also.

Yes I would love James Wan to direct a Scream film with Williamson in the writers chair. But I feel like Wans career is far more successful to stoop to directing a remake/sequel unless it's guaranteed to make 100mil+ opening weekend. I believe Mike Wingard would be a good choice

I would be open for a Scream 5 altogether.

Personally, I don't think we have to have the 5th movie. Trilogy as it is really is great. The 4th movie was all right but different atmosphere than original and previous sequels.

Also, I don't think James Wan can pull this kind of horror although he showed some great skills at directing supernatural subgenre horrors.

Although I see where you're coming from, I still believe James Wan can deal with as you said "this type of horror" , he can somehow mix his style with the slasher genre and make some interesting scenes, he can make a more serious toned Scream film, and having Kevin Williamson with him can make it both scary and it still can have jokes here and there as the original film did. If people get scared in a scream film as they do in a Conjuring film, the movie would be extremely successful. Then again it would be difficult to make a human killer as scary as a supernatural killer but I think James Wan would be up to it.

I think this is the key of our disagreement when it comes to James Wan directing Scream movie.
Personally, what are humans capable of doing against other human beings and other living beings in general, terrifies me to the core. I am not into supernatural subgenre, although there are that kind of movies I truly love and respect. And there goes my respect for James Wan's work.
I can agree partially with you because you think Wan's directing can work with Kevin Williamson's script.
Then again, maybe somewhere out there is hidden new director that can shine with franchises like Scream, but eventually I think that this movie series brought us everything interesting and there is no need to continue it.

Greetings 😃
