bit of a plot hole between White, Brunette + her paper (spoilers)

I'll be curious to see if anyone else agrees with me here. Now Brunette gets disqualified because her paper is "spoiled", because White secretly takes and uses hers as kindling to get the sprinkler system on. But this shouldn't have happened.

White had earlier taken the paper from the desk of the Asian woman, so they could do all their experiments, but I don't think he/they could do that specifically because the Asian woman had already been DQ'd. Again, taking the instructions very simply and literally, "if YOU spoil your paper at all, whether intentionally or accidentally, you will be dq'd". White could do those first few things to that piece of paper because it wasn't his. Well the same thing applies here. Brunette didn't spoil her paper. White did.

Therefore Brunette shouldn't have been kicked out.

Doesn't Brunette light the paper, not realising it's hers?

reply

Yeah, she lights her own paper accidentally thus spoiling it herself. Although I would have thought the paper would have already been spoiled once he rolled it up.

reply

oh crap, that's right. good call. I forgot that he hands it to her and she's literally the one that sets the flame to it.

reply

Hell knows what they meant by the word "spoil".
When they activate the sprinklers, black and white hold their papers up and get them soaked... yet they don't get kicked out.

reply

But HE rolled up HER paper. The irony is they could have each set fire to each other's papers and none of them would have been disqualified. But the paper, besides the microscopic clue on the back, was there specifically as a foundation for rules to be put upon, just like the pencils put there to see who was really inattentive and would simply write on it despite him saying not to spoil your paper.
