The Pill

I have just finished watching "Exam" and I have enjoyed it very much, it is one of the freshest and genuinely compelling films I have seen in a very long time.

One thing that occurred to me about White however was the pill he needed to take once an hour and every hour, hey made a massive fuss over needing the pill or he would go into shock, come etc but when he came into this interview he had no idea what the interview was, who it was with, what the job was so how did he know how long it would be? The answer is he didn't so would it not make sense for him to have more than one pill on him? This pill was meant to be the life saving pill, what if he had needed to wait around after the interview?

I know it may be seen as a small thing but I think for all the fuss and the link to the story this is somewhat of a large gap in it.

i found a very good answer for this comment, White only had one pill left. That would totally explain his desperate behavior and finally his attempt to kill himself. He didn't have any pills left, so he was forced to die a slow death or shoot himself in the head.

What you say? I think also they could've explained this 'one pill left' dilemma in the film.. it clearly made his brutal actions more understandable.

That does make sense and I never really considered that he may have been in the mental stage to want to do it and it would make his actions more brutal but I am still uncertain why he would risk it and I am uncertain of his ultimate goal but as I say this is a very good argument for him only having one.

Luckily the exam was timed perfectly to coincide with his one remaining pill. That left him just the right amount of time to either get a new job or shoot himself in the head using another man's arm.

No, this isn't a good answer. Even if he were hired, it would be unlikely that he would be given a dozen pills on the spot, or paid on the spot so that he could run out and get more pills.
For someone in such a desperate situation, the only option would have been to rob a pharmacy (or steal pills from another patient) prior to the interview date.

I dont understand how its possible to take a pill every hour. How the hell could he ever sleep?

reply

59 minutes at a time lol?
I've heard that some people sleep for only 5 minutes every hour, for example Leonardo Da Vinci supposedly did and some guy who followed a wolf pack around did the same.

Apparently anyone can do it, it's called the uberman sleep schedule, sleep 20 minutes every 4 hours.

Yes, that makes no sense. (Unless it meant that the every hour was only for 16 hours a day while awake.)
