This has to be a film record for the least amount of actors....

There was a total of 10 people in this film. that has to be a record, right?

reply

No.

Cube has seven for starters. I'm sure some have less. I imagine someone has made a feature length film with just one person in the cast (plenty of short movies with one person in the cast).

Two actors, although may be a short, depending on your definition

Similarly, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0159241/
One main actor after the intro.

Sleuth (the original) had just two. I am not sure about the remake. There are a lot of movies that feature only one or two actors for the majority of the film - like Castaway, 127 Hours, Open Water, etc.

How many do you think were in The Shining, Memento, or Clerks?

A plumtree is a meatpot, registered trade mark. Beware of imitations.

reply

So there are no movies without any actors?

reply

microcosmos only utilises the voice of Kristin Scott Thomas. But that isn't a fictional film.

Buried has only ONE actor ;)

reply

If we were to be straight to the point in Buried there were actually two actors shown. And there were voices too. Films with less then 10 people(remember in Exam on top of the eight candidates you also had the guard and that black guy who always appears up randomly in things) Other films with few actors are Donkey Punch, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Eden Lake, Hush and Panic Button. All fantastic gripping films IMO.

reply

Thanks for the response, I'll check the films you've mentioned! I've already seen Alice Creed and Panic Button ;)

reply

Koyaanisqatsi. No actors, no narrators.

reply

I'd like to see a movie with a negative number of actors.

reply

Battlefield Earth. Surely it's *that* bad

reply

The movies you mention like Castaway etc, may feature only a couple of people, but there were a lot of people on camera in the movie.

I hate IMDb sometimes! They are never any when you need it.

reply

Gerry had two actors just!

Lo has only like 4...

Buried features just ryan reynolds, though there are a few voices on telephones we don't see the actors.

Or hell in the pacific, with only two actors that don't understand each other during the entire film.

reply

Or this one, another film with just one 'actor': http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1667905

"The willow sees the heron's image upside down" from 'Sans Soleil'

reply

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? has only 4 main characters. There are two people who are in the movie for a few seconds, but they aren't even credited.

reply

Blair Witch Project?

reply

Rope?

reply

Dont know if they should be counted at actors, but the 3 main characters are interviewing a bunch of people on camera, so they are at least over 10 I would say.

Some might find me morally challenged or morally ambigious. I prefer morally creative.

Moon is one

reply

Not exactly. You have to take into account Kevin Spacey and the fake family waiting on Earth.

reply

Plus the admin guys on video link and the security guys barging in. And Sam Rockwell counts as two :P

All is Lost only has 1 actor: Robert Redfort on a (leaky) boat

i see to remember him talking to his daughter (kaya scolisomething) on video chat (or maybe it was a recorded message, but either way she was also in it as an actress)

reply

Closet Land is perhaps the best of the movies with a cast of one or two.

reply

I agree! Closet Land is an awesome movie with only 2 actors.

Andy Warhol shot experimental films with minimal actors. One called "Empire State Building" features a static shot of the building for 8 hours.

Another called "Sleep" features a single actor sleeping for about 8 hours.
