As soon as they mentioned the virus/pandemic aspect of the story, that was my immediate reaction too! I thought, aw crap, it's a zombie apocalypse story cleverly hidden in a Saw-without-the-serial-killer wrapper. I was relieved that was not the case, even though I do love a zombie/outbreak movie when done correctly.
Even so, I felt that the whole virus part of the story didn't really come alive for me, even though it was central to the plot. It felt contrived.
But I do have to admit that my criticism may not be totally fair...I fell asleep twice during this movie, because it didn't really hold my attention. One minute they're trying to find a way to show the 'invisible ink' by various methods...close my eyes for a second...and then White is tied up and begging for his medication. I backed it up to watch how this came to be, and somehow managed to doze off and miss the exact same segment of the movie! After that I decided I just wasn't into it enough to try a third time.
