Spoiling the Paper

If the burn, tear and pencil marks can spoil the paper, doesn't the water from the sprinklers spoil it too? I mean sure it will dry with time but the lead can also be erased, not sure though. Thoughts?

it was also stated that "the only rules in here are our rules". so, if the invigilator (or CEO) decides that wet paper is not spoiled paper, then it isn't.

What a cop out. That basically is saying that 'spoiled' is vague and can mean anything he wants it to mean, without telling you in clear terms what it is, and leaving you guessing. Go ahead, wet it. Take the risk. Don't blame us if we decide to eject you.

I actually thought that as well to be honest "wouldnt getting the paper wet count as spoiling the paper?". They were taking a risk with rule number 2 there

reply

I agree OP i thought that as well, also i noticed both times with the burned paper and Deaf eating the paper that the security guard didnt remove them immediately and only moved on them once another candidate made it known that the spoiled paper rule was broken.

Come on, you apes! you wanna live forever?

reply

It's probably more a matter of the guard being told in his earbud to remove someone and till he's told so he doesn't do anything.

Most papers were wet in that scene, that would probably have removed too many candidates so they chose to let it go.

That isn't at all what that statement meant. The meaning is that only the company's rules applied - not those of the government or the outside world.

That is why the candidates felt so emboldened to commit actions that would otherwise result in prison time.

reply

whoever caused the sprinklers to go off would be the person who spoiled the papers. So all the other people's papers getting wet didn't matter because they didn't do it.

reply

I don't think that is correct. White used another person's paper as a torch to set off the sprinklers. The other person didn't get a pass because White was the one that spoiled her paper.

reply

White didn't spoil it. He rolled the paper, wrinkling it a bit in the process, but then handed it to Brunette. She lit it with the lighter to trigger the sprinkler, thus spoiling it via burning.
