I missed something

At the end,why was the sheriff going after George when Serena was the one having people killed? Also, when they went to the cabin to have her identify George, why didn't they arrest her?

Apparently, the ledgers that Campbell took from the safe and showed to the sheriff "proved" - ?? - that George had been bribing elected officials, to keep them from creating a national park - I think!! But why anyone would "record" bribes, and how the crime of bribery would result in the life sentence Grorge talked about, I haven't a clue!

Well, it was actually Galloway who committed the murders "for" Serena, but yeah, she was certainly complicit! (And why would he try to kill George, when it was to hold onto him that she directed the murders??)

Anyone else?

Just . . . oblique, and pretty dumb.

reply

The sherriff went after George for the bribery crimes, not the murders. And when they showed up,at Serena's cabin, they thought she wasn't home and just left.
