New Critic Review - Aloha

Aloha is unquestionably Cameron Crowe’s weakest film to date. It is unfocused, forced, and lacking any sort of narrative drive. Since the script was written by Crowe (in addition to directing duties) there are occasional glimmers and specks of the talent shinning through but, too often characters become irritating. Another fatal flaw is the blatant misuse of the collective star power of Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray and Danny Mcbride, all wasted in throwaway roles.

I like it. We really enjoyed this film, great acting, hot chicks, awesome chemistry and message with an interesting twist.

"It is unfocused, forced, and lacking any sort of narrative drive. "

You know what this reads like? An amateurish "wanna-be" critic that doesn't really have anything to say, instead spouts these cliche phrases. "Unfocused, forced, and lacking any sort of narrative drive." What in the world does that mean anyway??

I saw the movie, I have seen thousands of movies over the years, there is nothing "unfocused" about 'Aloha' and it has a normal narrative, what in the world could this comment mean by 'lacking any sort of narrative drive'?

It seems to me this is just another in a great pile of stinky 'reviews' by someone unqualified to write a meaningful review.

'Aloha' will never me mistaken for a great movie but it is put together well, has interesting stories, and is entertaining. It does not deserve the few very harsh reviews it is getting.

This is the weakest review to date. It is full of meaningless cliches, with no specifics about the movie itself. It has hackneyed phrases like "occasional glimmers and specks of the talent shinning through" (notice how the reviewer can't spell "shining") and "blatant misuse of the collective star power."

Want a real review? It's a pretty good movie that I found enjoyable, with beautiful settings and I liked the military angle.
