Did anyone stay long enough to see the scene with the hula dance class?

That was the scene

I did.

Yeah, it's a perfect ending scene but the movie isn't that great, imho.

The last scene saves this whole film and makes it suck less! That young actress's performance was quite amazing, in my opinion!

The ending scene was weird imho. First I thought why is she crying and happy that her dad isn't her dad but this random guy is her dad now too and he just almost tore up her family? I mean that is just totally messed up. I mean imagine it, some old boyfriend of your mom comes by and you learn "oh oops you are really his daughter" and you cry out of joy? Crazy imho.

I did like that they both had the ability to communicate non verbally though lol.

I agree, such a weird reaction that just didn't seem plausible. I've known people that have met their long lost parents and they've all said the same thing, it was awkward, there wasn't much feeling there, they were like strangers, etc. I'm sure they could've pulled it off another way, and I'm sure sometimes it does happen in real-life, but it seemed very contrived in the movie.

Totally disagree. The fact is the months leading up to that scene cooper was spending more time with her and she could have subconsciously known but didn't realize it until that moment. And with the father figure in her life being for the most part absent, I think there's a lot more going on in that scene than one would realize. My wife is 41 and never met her biological father. I don't think anyone can or could predict how such an encounter would go. I think it's one of many misunderstood and deftly handled scenes in this underrated film. Jmo
