Oscar Nomination for McBride?

By far, the best performance of this film was McBride. The way he crafted his character to have such depth, despite the brevity of screen time, is a testament to his genius. The 'crazy fingers' bit that he subtly worked into the story was amazing. Is it too early to pencil him in on the Oscar ballot?

Totally agree with you on this.
I know Danny McBride from his over the top movies and series (love Eastbound & Down) and saw him in the trailer.
Thought he was gonna play a goofy character again and was surprised and glad that he wasn't typecasted as the goofball.
A solid performance in a serious-esque role, hope it's gonna bring him some good parts in the future.

WHat are you two talking about? Absolutely he was a goofy character. The fingers? I like McBride and Kenny Powers is a great character but McBride's inclusion was just shoe horned in there. Those fingers were beyond annoying..way past humorously amusing. Everything they gave him to say and do just seemed so rushed. He was a totally unnecessary character.

Agree to disagree then but the other two posters are not correct. I mean, that fingers thing was really goofy yet one of those posters said that he didn't play a goofy character. Believe me, the story line wouldn't have been affected without him. There was no "glue" that held any act together. He is in the movie so scantly, I don't see how there could be a nomination. Maybe you adored his character so much because you like McBride so much that you see what you want to see...Like I said, much of his character seemed forced. I don't think that the writer and director had a clear idea of who this guy was supposed to be and what he meant to the script. Above all and at the very least, it's the type of character that I believe a lot of actors could pull off. I don't think McBride brought any type of "special" to it.
