The Hula Class

is full of some cold people.

It was strange to me how no one reacted to the daughter bursting into tears and leaving the class for no apparent reason (from the perspective of people around her). They just continue through their dancing, like someone didn't just have a small breakdown.

It took away the impact of the scene, thinking about how unaffected everyone else was by this huge moment in her life.

She's running into the arms of her father. What's worse about that?

Oh, brother...

They weren't unaffected. I'm assuming they all, including the teacher, had to have noticed him standing there watching her. And look at his face...that's love. Not the pervy kind you're talking about, tho. And she obviously feels safe with him; she ran TO him, not away from him. I thought that was a beautiful scene. Watching her face as she worked thru everything was great. She's lovely, and so graceful! I hope to see more from her.

It was the best scene in the film. The instructor did turn and look over her shoulder to see why the girl had run out. The lack of reaction on the part of the students could have been because of fear of the teacher or an indication that they took what they were doing very seriously.
