Lobed it, cried
Don't get bogged down in the plausibility, just enjoy. It's a romantic comedy drama... and in the end, heartwarming.
I didn't cry but surprised how much I enjoyed it. (Ok I admit, got a little misty eyed during end hula scene). I don't know why i liked it, i just did.
