I thought the episode was ho-hum.

I guess the most interesting parts of the episode were Owen's anxiety disorder and Joe's former bookie turning on him (which I didn't really understand - didn't he tell Joe that he wasn't taking bets anymore? so why would it matter to him what Joe did). So I was pretty bored by it. How did others feel about the episode?

I think they are consciously making the bookie less likeable so his character can "be killed off". I think this guy is really great by the way.

I'm guessing here, but I think even though the bookie said he wasn't taking bets, if Joe took a bet from one of the bookie's clients, it goes to the bookie. Since Joe took a bet, even though the bookie didn't want it, the money goes to the bookie. So he sees it as Joe stealing $500. Now...if the guy won, who would pay him up? That part I don't get...assuming I even got this part right.

That scene suprised me and had shock value...I was actually taken back and surprised by it, which it what I'm sure the writers wanted. Mission accomplished.

well, i wouldn't say it was ho-hum, as it did cover a lot of ground last night...

Owen is overworked - SURPRISE!
he's manning a sinking ship - and pouring money he doesn't have into a failing auto dealership that has a bunch of clowns for salesmen!

Terry's little "love nest" is full of boxes & his lady just damn near killed herself emptying "2 boxes" and framing a couple of old pix of the pair in their younger years...
whew! i'm exhausted just thinking about that heavy workload!!

and the confrontation between Joe & Manfro confused the hell out of me...
i've been trying to learn about this whole "bookie betting" thing, and have been discussing it in the "Joe is Out of Control" thread; it's still too complicated for me to understand...
now i know that Manfro is going thru' hell with his chemo treatments, but he was so violent that i just thought he was a major, scary a$$----!
goes to show that if you mess with that "element" you're messing with fire, and Joe's lucky that he just got his store messed up and all he lost was a tooth...
could've been a lot worse!!

i think the return of Dori was expected by some viewers, but i don't know where they'll be going with that...

next week is the "season finale"...
i've said it before, and i'll say it again: 6 episodes is hardly a season! it SUX - BIG time...
and with the lousy PR this show gets and the lack of re-runs, i'm wondering if it'll even be back later this year - or ever...
too bad 'cause it really is a good show...

Agreed on whether it comes back...unless they have already have some episodes in the can. Romano and Bakula probably don't come cheap, and with low ratings, what's the incentive for even TNT keeping it going...unless TUMS paid them an insane amount of money for their product placement!!!

funny!

and Titleist, too!! big bucks in Golf, ya' know?

one other thing: unlike many other t.v. series, MoaCA doesn't have too many "special guest" appearances, so it probably keeps the budget down that way...
but i don't know if even that can save a show that doesn't have much going for it in the PR Department...

it's almost as if TNT wants this xlnt show to fail...

It's not just 6 episodes...it's the last 6 episodes of the 2nd season that started back in December. It's screwed up I know. TNT did the same thing to Saving Grace and it lasted 3 seasons...they claim it was too expensive that's why Grace was "cancelled".

Shocked me too for a minute when they said next week was the season finale. Just as it starts getting good.

That was kinda of funny when Erin said she unpacked 2 boxes....whoo-hoo...guess she's never moved before and had to unpack 20+ boxes!

Was Owen 430 thousand in the red or 430 million? People just aren't buying cars in this economy...plus I wouldn't buy cars from those salemen either! They give me the creeps. LOL

The episode covered a lot of things I thought, with Joe realizing he was neglecting the store first with golf, then with being a "bookie".

I thought the commercial they decided to do was pretty horrible, even for car dealer standards. And the logistics of Scarpula's ad showing up on Thoreau's homepage is dumb, they need a new web guy if they are running ads on a dealership of their size's website.

As someone who works in the IT industry, I can tell you it's not that hard to hack a web site. Large companies have had their sites hacked into and their security is much more difficult to break through than a car dealership which probably has a basic firewall.

They could've hired someone to do it...however, it's pushing logic a little since breaking into someone's web site is a felony. I'm sure Owen wouldn't press charges but you'd have to be stupid or crazy to pull something like that in real life.

who says it was hacked? if the check cleared (and let's face it, it's not like Thoreau can't use the money), and you're confident that your dealership is better or that the commercial is so bad it wouldn't appeal to customers looking to buy from you, why not run it?

The thing is when you only have six episodes and then are gone again you really can't afford to have so-so episodes. The quality needs to better than average on all six.

"Breaking Bad" had one ho-hum episode last season, but they're giving you a full season of really good shows so you don't mind one that is so-so.
