TNT Cancels Best Show on TV

Men of a Certain Age is one of the smartest, entertaining programs of the last decade. Great acting, incredible writing and perfectly cast. This is a mistake to pull this amazing show from the airwaves. Maybe TNT did not invest enough promotion for this consistently incredible show that topped itself week after week. This is an insult to not only the fans to not be able to see the characters and plotlines develop but for the actors, writers and crew that put so much work into this amazing show. TNT needs to rethink this poor decision and renew Men of a Certain Age or another network should pick it up. In a television world of mindless programs and endless reality shows, Men of a Certain Age stood out above the rest. From the opening scene to the final credits, Men of a Certain Age was a true gem.

Lets start a campaign for TNT or another Network to pick up the show.

OK, Cory, count me in. Start up that campaign! Facebook, or...? Let me know!!

I saw this information on The Hollywood Reporter Website in the comments section. Its how to E-Mail TNT about the show and a Facebook page that has been started to save the show.

You can help save MOACA! Email TNT a short note here: http://support.tnt.tv/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=5477.

Then go to the Save Men of a Certain Age page and hit "like." https://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-Men-of-a-Certain-Age/160694517336268

I'm thinking about trying something else as well to help save the show.

Thank you for your interest.

Agree with everything you said. I think the season being split into two six episode segments hurt it, just as you're getting into it, the season is over, and then you learn that theres a second half to the season that you have too wait six months to start up again, TNT should've just played all 12 episodes.

Now that they have their own tv series' for a few years...you didn't think they were going to be more intelligent than the abc, nbc or cbs networks, did you? I am sick and tired of investing in great shows just to see them die before their time.
We hardly watch the three networks anymore and now that this is occurring...how long will i be watching tnt?
They are making room for the new Dallas...which i am not even excited about...i quit watching after we found out that the shooter was Kristen...
Now if they bring back Knots Landing....I'll be there!

reply

Yea..it's almost pointless to get invested into new dramas anymore.... I loved this show and really loved all 3 characters...and finally when we see them all grow.....finally to that next new level, the show is cancelled for poor ratings. I mean...does TNT realise the show is as good as it is? It's actually a very original show and it's not hitting it's marks... it's all lies. I watch it downloaded because I don't get TNT in HD...so I watch the 720p online...much beter quality. I know alot of peeps do this too.... sad...one of the best shows will be gone...TNT...I don't watch falling skies...now that has been done to death.

I totally agree with you. I can't believe they called it!

I heard about this on Friday. Bummer. =(

I'm with you on this! I'll go to both campaign sites. I was so bummed to read that it has been cancelled. What is TNT thinking?! It was poor promotion on their part for an award winning and critically acclaimed show.

There are so few decent shows on tv these days, and they cancel another good one. What a shame.

It's NOT the 'best show on TV;' (after all, FNL just finaled) but I did enjoy it. If TNT hadn't been so stupid as to break the season into two parts with only 6 eps. (no momentum built), it might have survived. The truth is, it only really started to settle into a groove and build momentum until the end of part 1 of season 2.

Edit: And one other thing TNT, your scheduling stinks. Why does EVERY channel think that they need to schedule everything on Wednesday at 9 or 10 pm? And the repeats are at bad times too. A new show is needs a little nurturing to build an audience. TNT ought to adopt the scheduling that other cable channels use: double-barrelled scheduling at 10 and 11 (and no BS 1 minute over the hour garbage).

TNT does this to good shows! At least they gave Saving Grace a chance to have a closing finale instead of just cancelling the show like they did with MOACA.

..totally agree with the second half of what you said. TNT didn't promote any kind of stability in this show. They gave up on it before it ever started.

Seriously... look at the number of viewers for each episode. You will see a huge (and consistent) drop in the numbers in-between each break in episodes.

Every single time networks do this (and they've been doing it for DECADES), the show they do it to - is doomed.

TNT: stupid decision. You could have had a huge show on your hands, and you were too stupid to treat it as such.

a holes.

You see the problem is America. Intelligent television programming where you have to use a brain and/or understand simple basic things to understand the show is too much for an American audience. Thus we get things like V, Lost, every cop show out there, etc. etc. and the good programming gets canceled. It's unfortunate but hey that's the truth...people can't comprehend anything anymore. People, in general, are stupid and it shows.

Sad state of affairs. You have to wonder why TNT, which has a pretty decent track record for airing quality programming would want to bail on "Men", partciularly in light of the Emmy nod for Andre Braugher. With "The Closer" in its last season, this is the kind of flagship show that you'd expect TNT to hold onto to burninsh its brand. The writing has been consistently original and brilliant, and the entire extended cast on this show has been putting on an acting clinic from day one.

One can only hope that some other smart network will pick this show up and continue running with it.

Right on. Now if they did a little bit of a change and made it "Vampires of a Certain Age" it would no doubt live on for years.
