ha ha I agree, best line!!
Die Hippies Die!
There weren't really many good lines in this movie at all. At least Arthur was entertaining, even if it wasn't funny.
Arthur - 6/10
Your Highness - 3/10
OT
I laughed riotously throughout this movie, it was the sickest, funniest, grossest, foulest, silliest, stupidest, most ridiculous romp I'd seen in a theatre in years. Even so, I still only rated it 6/10, but I did laugh continuously. On top of that, I dislike both Franco and Portman, more and more since this years' Oscars which I disagreed with, but they are perfect for such stupid roles!
Arthur I ranked 1/10, I did not laugh ONCE, was bored to high hell, twitched on my theatre seat the whole time, yawned, and nobody in the theatre was laughing either. I was seriously tempted to leave the theatre, sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering to myself why I was still here.
Where Your Highness stands apart from all other comedies is that it DARES to go where no other goes, swearing profusely, erect dick and lack thereof, unashamed cowardliness. It was completely unlike any other mainstream comedy. Of course it would displease puritans thoroughly, which makes it all the more fun.
***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
umm..have you seen any comedies lately? This wasn't that graphic, it goes where almost all recent comedies have gone, but less funny. Apparently you've never seen an Apatow film? This movie was just stupid.
127 Hours - 8/10
Arthur - 6/10
OT
Meh, I dislike most of Apatow's work, it usually bores me. I found this quite different.
***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
It's different in that Apatow's movies are actually funny and good, but as far being graphic in the way you describe, hist movies cross those lines just as much if not more.
127 Hours - 8/10
Arthur - 6/10
OT
Apatow is pop culture, movies made for mass consumption. Great for money making... beyond that, it's a matter of tastes.
***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
umm..any movie released nation-wide is made for mass consumption.
Insidious - 8/10
Water For Elephahts - 9/10
OT
Ha ha you're funny. You really think the people who financed this were expecting mass appeal????? Of course not! There's a difference you know... between mass appeal/consumption and general distribution. There are plenty of movies that get general distribution without mass appeal. Once in a while Hollywood takes a little risk.
This movie is way too "out there" for many folks. It's ok if you didn't like it you know...
***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
I'm sorry but you are sounding dumb. This movie is in no way "out there." It's just in every way, crap.
How exactly is it "out there?" And studios do not greenlight movies if they do not expect to make a profit.
Insidious - 8/10
Water For Elephahts - 9/10
OT
The point is you think your "opinion" trumps other's opinions, this is cinema, it's about tastes. And studios greenlight movies all the time that don't make much money. The day they produce only movies which will be blockbusters, I will quit watching movies.
Like I said, it's "OK" if you don't like it, but to call other people dumb because we disagree with you, well, that reflects more on your mindset than anyone else... just saying. Goodbye.
***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
Everyone thinks their opinion trumps other's opinions, or else they wouldn't have that opinion. Do you not only choose opinions that you think are right?d I never said that they don't greenlight movies that don't make a lot of money. But they only greenlight movies if they EXPECT them turn in a profit. I'm not saying they expected this to be a blockbuster, but they thought it wuold make up it's budget adn then some. They are wrong sometimes. I never said you are dumb. I said you're SOUNDING dumb for thinking this movie is 'out there' and is so raunchy compared to other movies of this genre.
Insidious - 8/10
Water For Elephahts - 9/10
OT
judd apatow's films are trendy movies to like because they go well with the critics. i cam tell my your ratings you try to side with critics. aside from freaks and geeks, undeclared and 40 year old virgin, apatow hasn't done anything worth watching. this movie was funny if you can appreciate that sense of humor. critics don't so you don't.
shareThey go well with the critics because they are good. But your statement "i cam tell my your ratings you try to side with critics" is false. The last movie I saw in theaters, Arthur's Christmas was very highly regarded by critics with a 92 percent on RT. And I was bored with the entire film. It wasn't terrible, but a big letdown. And I'm sure I'll get flamed for this one but I hated Inception, another film loved by critics. I could go on and on all day listing all the movies I like that were panned by critics yet I consider classics. This movie just really had no redeeming values, it's right up there with Jack and Jill.
Zookeeper - 5/10
Conan O'Brien Can't Stop- 7/10
"Everyone thinks their opinion trumps other's opinions, or else they wouldn't have that opinion. Do you not only choose opinions that you think are right?"
How old are you? Seriously?!
People do not only have opinions because they think they are right.
This site is about films. There is no wrong or right. It is a matter of.... get this... OPINION!!
I know that heaps of people think some films I like are rubbish. I don't think either opinion "trumps" the other or that I am right and they are wrong.
There doesn't have to be a winner in a discussion about personal tastes.
Any movements released from my genitals is also made for mass consumption.
share"umm..any movie released nation-wide is made for mass consumption."
Hahahahaha wow is that ever not true. You're pretentious statements above really add to the comedic value of this statement.
The studio would be unwilling to release a movie that doesn't make money. Mass consumption is how movies make money. Sorry that logic doesn't work for you but this isn't even debatable. This movie was is a PRIME example of a movie meant for mass consumption. Wide release, well known actors, big budget. It's a broad and commercial comedy for idiots. You probably loved it. And I'll go ahead and beat you to it, because this happens time and time again ans the answer is: because those movies are good.
Final Destination 5 - 8/10
30 Minutes or Less - 9/10
The Change-Up - 8/10
Yeah I loved the movie, despite it weirding me out from time to time. I know a few other people that love it and about the same amount the hate it. The rest of the people I know didn't see it. Yes, the studio would be unwilling to release a movie that makes no money, but no ones arguing that. A movie being generally distributed with a big budget and well known actors still doesn't mean that the film was engineered for "mass consumption". Perhaps the advertising was, but you'd have to be a child to think they made the movie with no intention but to make money. The made less than half of what 'Year One' made in the box office, and couldn't even compare with 'Hop' and the money that film raked in. You wanna talk about films engineered for 'mass consumption'? Look for the obviously rushed films trying to make a certain release, usually holiday. 'Piranha' to me is the best example of a rushed film made for 'mass consumption' for the beer addled, high school and college idiots. 'Your Highness' has been throughly misunderstood and misjudged, but the pretentious lot like yourself [broad and commercial comedy for idiots, so I must've loved it] are going out of your way to bash it for the same reason I see your lot hating 'Hot Tub Time Machine'. It seems like you losers are opposed to having a good time. There's a lot of films I hate, usually from a writing stand point, or just general logic, but when a film is just trying to do something different with a lot of funny people and a goofy idea I see the film for what it is. An excuse to laugh. There are plenty of laughs in 'Your Highness', unless you have a burr up your ass [which from what I've seen, a strong 30-40% of IMDb users do] you wont be laughing, you'll be doing whatever it is miserable people do while comedies are playing. This movie tried to take a genre that was making no strides, or even movements, and infuse it with the stoner comedy genre. It's 'Clash Of The Titans' with a bong. And quite frankly, it is the kind of film thats better with a bong. Stoner comedies, especially in the last 5 years, have a style of humor focused on people with wide ranges of humor, or flat out stoned people. Even the end of Pineapple Express had me a little bit angry [With the guns and all that *beep* and my friend told me I should've been blazed to see it. I tried this weeks later and I did, in fact, laugh at the climax of the film, where at first I had been grimacing. 'Your Highness' lets you know going in what'll make the film spectacular, in fact the answer is the title. But I watched this movie a second time sober as a bird, and still thought Danny McBride, Justin Theroux, James Franco, and the little bastard that played Courtney were hilarious and Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel did their best in frankly limited roles. The problem I had with this movie was it's made as a guy film, and I think did a decent job justifying it with romantic moments and heartfelt scenes between Franco and McBride. Out of all films made to 'make money', even the weakest are easy to spot because they actually make money. Hollywood doesn't often make this mistake in the last few years. Movies that wont sell as much in theaters but will be huge in DVD sales, they're not made for the money, they wouldn't be because they wont see the money quick enough. This was intended on either being a sleeper hit or a DVD powerhouse. A cult classic if you will. And with all of the unnecessary negative verbal diarrhea I've seen spewed all over this film, well, thats usually step one.
Sorry you didn't laugh at this movie. Just remember it's your loss, not our mistake.
Ever hear of paragraphs? Take a breath!

80% of the lines in this film deserve that title!
