Oh man this is why I Hate Hollywood films.

As all they do are remakes after remakes and they all are a joke. The originals are so much better. The way Hollywood is now how can any movie become a classic now? By their constant ruining of decent or great films of the past. Now Red Dawn 1984 may not have been the most realistic or a great film etc. But it's a 1000 times better than this remake.

1. Maddy looks like he has downs syndrome. I mean no offense as a MD myself I make no joke to people who in real life suffer from it but this 2nd rated star has that look to me. He was truly the one actor that irked me in this film with his drab look.

2. I speak German, English, Japanese and Korean. I was born and rasied in Germany met my 3rd gen Japanese hubby in college who's stepmom and half brother are Korean and is married to the sister of a South Korean Actress who's stage name is Ha Ji Won http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0351710/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 so I'm here sister n law. But it in this film the Korean words spoken is just for show, as its just a bunch of Korean words just thrown together haphazardly its so laughable.

3. Half my husbands and half of my family are military and LE types we both combined as we both have US and German/Japan sides of our families. But we have about 6 family in Afghanistan as we speak 2 are pilots in the USAF and the rest in the Marines or Army but all are in combat units aka they fight. And all laugh at these military or war films. The North Korean's may have outdated weapons etc but they are fanatical and many are trained in the military as early as 10yrs old sometimes younger. But I agree their is no way NK could invade the US unless they made a deal with China or Russia which this film does imply.

But again the average NK soldier is not so poorly trained as in this movie. But you know Hollywood even the Waffen SS to the Russian Spetsnanz in the original were just as poorly trained. While the US has super soldiers and kids who in a few months are Delta Force operators. So with our military family along with a minor in military history this film is again a big joke. Look at the Taliban they have not gotten larger they now mainly only resort to bombs aka IED's, suicide bombers and such. They don't have the guts, training or the resources to fight a conventional battle with our troops and allies.

4. Like in the sandbox as my cousins call it. A group like that would get taken out extremely fast probably by a drone. As I said the insurgency has gone to ground now and like the IRA are fighting a war they know they cannot win so they are like cowards just fighting with bombs or using kids and now the mentally ill as suicide bombs. Complete cowards. Even the Russia of today would be hard pressed to attack Nato without destroying themselves. A more real North Korean attack would be on the peninsula on South Korea that's the only way NK could and would fight a war.

So yeah I hate Hollywood films post 90's at least. Today there is NO originality at all 007 and Ethan Hunt can't tell the diff. I mean all action films today are just copies of each other. Its why we only watch mainly foreign or independent films.

Red Dawn 2012 10 thumbs down. And the ending was so corny and I doubt there will be a sequel as it sorta imply's that. But it failed at the box office of course, no surprise. Seen it a party recently in fact its the only time we watch new or newish HW films. And all stink. Oh yeah the gal getting mad a Darryl for getting Jed killed oh man he was stuck with a transmitter that he would never have known off yet she wants to kill him LOL what great writers. Oh and love how the US has just one Asian American who is named Smith oh man racism, color and other stereotypes are so ingrained in many tho thankfully still a minority of you yanks. Again as a Dr race and color are a bunch of outdated BS. All those terms are nothing but words of racial hate. Remember I came from a country who made it a science but in truth just a lie that will forever put a black stain on my native country forever.

So Hollywood is no different that the porn industry in originality today no difference at all. Thankfully the US is but one country who should get off its high horse and realize they are not they only ones who make films. In the EU many of us have no idea about US media films, music or stars etc. We have our own and have been longer than the US.
