Sympathy for other countries

For me this movie did not promote American patriotism or nationalism rather it made me very angry about the US invasions of other countries. Hemsworth's line about how the US military presence in other countries is to secure freedom or peace is complete horsepoop. What country or people have ever been grateful for US military occupation in their country? Not many.

This could have been a good movie if Hemsworth's character would have come to the realization that our military and cultural presence in other countries has extremely negative repercussions which ultimately lead to this invasion. He brought up the Viet Cong but unfortunately did not understand that both sides of Vietnam were fighting a civil war in hopes of uniting the whole country.

The filmmakers tried to bring some reason to the invasion by having the "Koreans" say they want to liberate the people because of political corruption but they didn't go far enough with criticisms of the US. It was also unfortunate they had to choose the Koreans as the enemy.

What if the invaders were a relatively peaceful country like Canada or Sweden? Suppose Canada invaded the US and made the point that they wanted to liberate us from our corrupt government and violent social practices. Suppose they said they wanted to help America because we are tearing ourselves apart with racism, political corruption, social service stagnation due to religion, sexism, corporate manipulation, military fear-mongering, hunger and poverty. Would their invasion be justified? Perhaps we as a country should stop throwing stones.

As a Canadian I find the notion of Sweden as an invader laughable. Never mind the 35 million gunless population Canada to invade.

This movie was a piece of crap. Solely because Russia has always been an unfriendly nation towards the USA and should have once again been the agressors. But liberal propaganda has lead so many to believe that once the USSR fell they became friends.
