I fell asleep trying to watch it on cable last night.
The original is realistic in that it attempts to portray what it would be like for an American town to be occupied by the Soviets and its Allies as towns in Afghanistan and Central America were at the time being subjugated.

It is a "what if" and not a prediction, which is good because, of course, the Soviet Union collapsed before they could try!

The film also has numerous homages to the French resistance in World War II and movies on the subject.

Accidentally had displeasure watching this today after avoiding it for all these years
regret every second of it, besides horrible shaky action scenes like main cameraman was MJF, this had most cringe worthy acting and dialogues in any action films i've seen for the past 10 years and yeah wimpy teenagers would probably die without internet after day 1, let alone handle recoil-less ak 47's lmao
