Go see it if you must, but you have been warned...

This film is so dull, dry and nonsensical it's just awful and painfully boring. I had high hopes for this being a fan of Lynch and most especially Michael Shannon and Willem Dafoe. But unfortunately, even with a decent effort by Shannon, it still makes not a lick of sense nor does it even seem like it makes an effort to. It's too boring to even bother to find out if there is something there (which after giving it my full attention for almost 2 hours, I found nothing). So, in summary, don't waste your time. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have, but in general, I would never recommend it and I'd really like it if all of you didn't even waste your time and instead spend your time and money on good films, hopefully Bad Lieutenant.

the word boring mustn't be used on anything that wasn't made for entertainment in the first place.

and if one didn't understood it then he also mustn't tell people to not waste their time on what potentially might be understandable.

LOL, another 'artsy' nimrod who thinks the film was too deep for most of us to understand. Hilarious. This movie was complete *beep* period. Get off of your high horse ya stroke.

Another artsy nimrod? He made a clear and logical point. Did you even read the OP?

I'm sorry but anyone who praises Bad Lieutenant doesn't know sh*t about cinema. While this film wasn't the greatest, there was nothing actually that bad. The story kept me interested all the way through and While there were some lazy techniques and story devices it was a fun film all around. Honestly I didn't look for any grand symbolism or find the higher message, simply a story about a crazy bastard who kills his mother and then holds his two pet flamingos hostage is entertaining enough for me.

Agreed. This movie was hilarious. I don't think it had any deeper meaning, other than being a portrayal of insanity (accurate or not, I don't know, and I don't care). I just didn't want it to end. It was 90 minutes of Michael Shannon being Michael Shannon-ish, and spitting out one great line after another. Good times.
