Despite what the great unwashed say, the infidels, the philistines, say, I think this is a masterwork.
Are there any other film that compares? That deals so expertly with schizophrenia and mental deterioration? That captures the same eery feel? (And NOT Lynch with his hipsterish posing and "is-it-a-dream-or-isn't-it" schtick)
Take Shelter deals with schizophrenia and has a very eerie feel to it. I highly recommend it.
TS though, is a little more of a traditional movie with a logical plot that creates tension, and lots of it. MSMSWHYD, despite its promising cast, felt more like a character study with not a lot of purpose or intrigue to it, and as such simply failed to draw me in. Unique is still a good thing though, and I give it points for that.
