A male having intercourse with a female still going through puberty could result in pregnancy risking medical complications, as an underdeveloped pelvis can lead to difficulties in childbirth. That pretty much screams they are not really for sex until they are finished with puberty. Of course this would not have such a problem with the reversal and thus must be treated more harshly.

I wouldn't call it rape. if it was the way around with a willing 13-year-old girl, it still wouldn't be rape.however it would still be classified as a sex crime... having sex with an underage person is a crime regardless of the gender.
but yeah, The whole applause thing was just weird. I think it would had been more realistic for there to be mixed reactions varying from the "envious" to the utterly disgusted. You know, a few young boys thinking he's so awesome, not realizing the true consequences. while others think it was gross that he went for somebody so "old", even if she was apparently hot. Remember, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.
The adult men would know of consequences that those young men might face for having sex with a older women, and would therefore feel less ecstatic about the situation themselves.
But hey, that's hollywood for you... they're so shallow and tend to be utterly unrealistic.

In fact the only sexual predator was Leighton Meester's character, she told her younger brother that it was called "Tickle time" indicates that the brother was young or at least immature at the time it started. It could be the reason why he is defensive and changes his attitude on a whim, he is trying to get his power back. Same reason he takes a figure of authority as his chosen lie.
I think it is funny that you call the teacher a sexual predator, when he was the one who started their relationship. He had the power, in every way apart from under the law.

shareMost of the world it's 16, 15 in France. Most U.S. States it's under 18 with a few having it 14 I believe.
The difference with it being an older woman is that she's not forcing herself on him. A man is penetrating the woman, the woman has final say of consent which is why it's not a double standard.
