One year ago today (12/18)...

Just watched it last night. I thought the original was uneven and this one was more of the same. A few scenes had me in stitches though. Mainly the chemistry between Carell and Wiig and the original San Diego gang (Rudd, Todd Packer). The big street fight at the end with those surprise cameos was great. I didn't expect much and pretty much got what I expected.

On a more serious note, the movie did have an interesting theme about how the news has become sensationalized, made-up, gung ho America propaganda in order to lure in ratings. This idea was explored in the 1976 film Network but this 2013 movie certainly coincides nicely because of the endless amount of garbage emanating from cable networks that claim to be "news."

Wow, a year? This year went by fast

I like most of Will Ferrell's work, but this movie was disappointing on many levels. To me it felt as if the cast was just trying to make this movie happen for old times sake. The jokes were bland and the only small laughs I got out of this movie, were from Steve Carrel's character.
