Did You Get Through It?

Personally, I couldn't make it past 45 minutes. I've read of others trying several times to make it to the end and failing.

Regardless, I did want to rant about my disappointment a little bit while I'm here. How the *beep* did this happen?? I mean, I kind of get how it could have played out. Will Ferrell's last blockbuster was probably Step Brothers. Paul Rudd's was likely Role Models (or I Love You, Man - whichever was first) and Steve Carrell's last passable film in my opinion was Date Night (or maybe Dinner for Schmucks, though I kind of hated it). So all of these guys were up for something that might get people excited about them again, and with the nostalgia of the first still flowing through the market, what better solution could there be? To me, the very worst part wasn't that it was a *beep* sequel to a pretty hilarious film, but more that two of my favorite comedians in Farrell and Rudd have, with this and their respective strings of disappointing films over the last 5 years, very obviously lost any grasp they once had on modern comedy. Its time for them to either try their hand at other genres exclusively, or take smaller roles in films written by people who can give them something better than what they've been doing.

I made it alright...couple of laughs here and there, no guffaws, tiresome in places... Land of the Lost was better...lol!

Yes - all three versions!

It felt like after the way this movie was hyped to infinity and beyond, it was bound to be a disappointment. Expectations were through the roof.

I see you're drinking 1%. Is that cause you think you're fat?

Get on the scale! Get off the scale.

Can't seem to make the last 30 mins or so. I've tried three times to watch the end and just keep falling asleep.

Steve's got an oscar nom coming up with his role in Foxcatcher, I doubt he gave a *beep* about whether or not he could get people excited about him again by being in Anchorman 2.

On the Blu-ray in special features director Adam Mckay mentions the tension in every sequel between borrowing from the original movie and coning up with something new. The gladiator battle had to be done again but in A2 its so over the top its dumb rather than clever. Harrison Ford should have just been himself or become a morph of Han Solo/Indiana Jones in the battle instead of a werehyena, for example. Also the pace of A2 is much slower than A1 and there's not enough Fred Willard.
