Stolen jokes

This mediocre movie stole jokes from various movies, like:

- When Ron Burgundy can't stop saying "black" when he meets the black woman, same thing from Austin Powers with the word "mole" when he meets a guy with a huge mole on his face.

- Steve Carell's character eating lettuce like it was an apple, from the first SNL Digital Short called "Lettuce".

- Kristen Wiig's character is a copy of one of the characters of Kristen Wiig in SNL.

- Will Ferrell ice skating, from 'Blades of Glory'.

And I bet there are many more.

It was so sad watching Will Smith and Liam Neeson on this piece of garbage, what a mediocre movie!

reply

Oh no, WILL SMITH and LIAM NEESON, who would have thought the people who last brought us Taken 2 and After Earth would ever appear in a mediocre movie?

reply

At least 'After Earth' was an original attempt to do something decent in SciFi, and Neeson WAS 'Taken', not just an extra, like in the awful 'Anchorman 2'.

reply

"At least 'After Earth' was an original attempt to do something decent in SciFi."

Night, you're gonna get your account wiped again posting crazy talk like that.

When I'm gone I would like something to be named after me. A psychiatric disorder, for example.

reply

They are what are known as CAMEO's. Do you really think Will Smith or Liam Neeson thought they were going to get nominated for oscars for their respective parts in the movie????

reply

sorry, after that i cant take you seriously ever anymore.

Couldn't agree more. Once you've skated on ice in one movie you should never do it in another movie, that's the whole reason there was never a sequel to Cool Runnings!

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.

reply

You're so right, I bet Will Ferrell ice skating in 'Garbageman 2' had nothing to do with 'Blades of Glory'.

reply

it didn't. It had everything to do with "Ice Castles". You know, the movie about an Ice skater who had an accident while trying to do a trick and lost her vision for it? Oh, you don't? Well consider yourself enlightened.

reply

The SeaWorld scene was similar to the Fairy drunken scene from Blades of Glory.

Blind scenes similar to the paralized scenes from Talladega Nights.

reply

Also when the RV flipped in slow-motion and the gentle music played,
that was similar to Will Ferrel in Old School shooting himself in the neck with the tranquilizer then falling into the pool to Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence.

Only the RV scene wasn't funny. It could've been. They should've made their voices deeper in slow motion.

Also it seemed like it was put together slap-dash, and the director just used the first take on every scene. There are scenes where actors start to break character and laugh, then catch themselves (such as Brick's love interest).

reply

Interview of the cast in The Daily Show was funnier than the movie.

reply

I wouldn't say the jokes were stolen except for that 'black' and 'mole' one, but the whole movie was lame and part of it because of the uninspired, lame, recycled jokes you've just listed in addition to unnecessary cameos, like every cameo, in the fight scene.

reply

The skating and going blind stuff was directly lifted from a '70s film called Ice Castles starring Robbie Benson. He's even wearing a similar costume to the girl in that film.

reply

i thought about the mole joke from austin powers too when i saw that scene. and i imagine they used the fact that will ferral can ice skate because... he can ice skate. i doubt that these parralells were on purpose per-say. its just an unoriginal and derivative comedy. and sometimes downright stupid

never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you-

"Will Ferrell ice skating, from 'Blades of Glory'. "

Yes, that was the first time anyone ever skated in a movie.
