My new favorite vamp movie

I completely enjoyed this film, so sufficiently different than any other of the genre I've seen. I cut my teeth on the original Count Dracula (1931–Bela Lugosi) and of course I love the ones on Buffy/Vampire Slayer but when I saw LMI I was completely captured by Chloe Moretz' portrayal as that cute little creature of the night. I liked the details like her being under-dressed for the weather and barefoot in the snow, but she shrugs it off saying "I don't get cold" and when asked her age, Abby replies "12, but I've been 12 for a very long time" I thought it was a fresh change from the pained admission that they are X-hundred years old, etc. Chloe wasn't a 'hottie' (like she was as Hit Girl) but her character didn't require her to be. A thoroughly watchable, enjoyable movie IMHO.

you should check out the original.

The only version I could find was subtitled so I didn't bother.

can't you read

Maybe you should either:
Pay for it
Or watch the original (meant to be subtitled, and better than the remake in every way)

Or maybe just watch what he/she wants to watch and decide what is "better in every way" for him/herself.

That's a different thing for everyone. Shocking, eh?

It has been scientifically proven that the original is superior.

Witch doctors, soothsayers, priests, and medicine men are not science. 😉

Any proof you can offer can be disproved easily. Art cannot be measured. The exact same piece of art can be brilliant or horrible to two different people and both are correct.

I watched the original first obviously then saw the remake and I had absolutely no problems with it. Both are fantastic movies. Unlike the Oldboy remake, I hold this movie in the same regard as the original

Same here. I had high hopes for the Oldboy remake but it didn't really connect with me.

I thought Chloe did a great job portraying a non glamorous vampire that's trying not to live like an animal.

Kodi Smit-McPhee was also very good in his role.

It is interesting how vampires can be dramatically different from movie to movie. It's a very malleable "monster". Rules can change depending on the whims of the author.

And that little exchange about Abby's age was food for thought for me too. She's been around so long that she's actually forgotten her birthday. Makes sense that something like that would fade from memory since she had no reason to "celebrate" it year to year. A year would almost fly by for her by this point.
