Thanks. I'll check those out when I get a chance.

You're welcome!

They aren't exact subject matches, but each of them has similar genre characteristics. Of course, I'd highly recommend the original (Let the Right One In) if you haven't already seen it.

Check back here and let us know what you think. Also, feel free to add similar titles.

Enjoy!

I actually saw LTROI before I saw LMI. 😀

How about Orphan? Young character who isn't quite what she seems to be.

reply

Orphan is definitely a spot-on comparison. I didn't list it simply because I don't have it rated as high as the other films.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Here are some other Drama/Horror/Mystery movies though, personally, I'd give higher recommendations to those in my original post:

The Mothman Prophecies
Insidious
What Lies Beneath
The Jacket
The Exorcist III
The Vanishing
Devil
The Uninvited
The Forgotten
Cold Creek Manor
White Noise
Exorcist II: The Heretic
The Amityville Horror (2005)
The Unborn

"The Uninvited" - J-No

This pales in comparison to "A Tale Of Two Sisters", the film upon which "The Uninvited" was based. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you do.

The Babadook is my favorite film of 2014.

I wish there were more films like The Babadook. An instant classic!

I would add "Byzantium". Like "Let me in" it lingers in your mind. It is also a different take on vampires.

I stumbled upon Byzantium a couple of months ago without ever knowing of it's existence. Fantastic movie. Other good recent lesser-known vampire movies:

Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
Thirst (2009)
Stake Land (2010)
Daybreakers (2009)
Fright Night (2011) Remake
Afflicted (2013)
Spring (2014)

I think someone recommended that one to me a while back and I forgot to watch it. I'm going to check it out tonight.

Fantastic movie

Agreed! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Left me wanting more and trying to imagine gaps in what the movie told me. (Like how the process of "turning" actually works and what the extent of their abilities are)

It could almost be a basis for a backstory for LMI really. A few alterations and it could be Abby's origin.

reply

That didn't take long. Glad you enjoyed it! It's just top notch film making. Stunning cinematography with a really good story. I gave it 9/10. Too bad it never got a full release in the US and bombed at the box office.

"Spring (2014)" - seth-shaw23

I don't think Spring can be called a vampire film, unless you're being extremely flexible with the term "Vampire".

Great film, though. Shame it didn't get a wide release.

Pretty sure she was an eternal vampire. Over a year since I've seen it.

"Pretty sure she was an eternal vampire" - seth-shaw23

Eternal, yes. Vampire, I'm sure she's not.

There was a scene where she transforms (not at will) into some kind of primordial creature akin to a "sea monster".

I think the only thing that could be considered as "Vampiric" is that she deliberately gets pregnant every twenty years in order to use the stem cells from the embryo to regenerate her body. I guess that could be seen as Vampiric, maybe, in a sort of extending-your-own-life-at-the-expense-of-someone-else's-potential-life kind of way. She is certainly not a classical Vampire.
