If The Burning can score a 6 on IMDB...

...So can Laid to Rest.

I love "The Burning", but how it scores higher and then people complain about this film being poorly acted and "just another slasher" confuses me. The Burning is a fun film but is more or less a Friday the 13th clone, which itself was a stab at emulating Halloween.
So why does this film get so much criticism? It's not fine art, but for a slasher it's very good and it beats out a lot of stuff on the shelves of blockbuster.
The whole snuff angle of things really adds to it, I feel, as well as little details like Chromeskull communicating via texting. I think it's just fresh enough and just enough of a throwback that it's fun. It sure beats Hatchet, which was decent, but a little tedious at times.

I would like there to be, but with how it ended, it doesn't seem likely.

Yeah I kind of agree. Havent seen Laid to Rest yet but The burning always seemed overated to me. Lots of fanboys come out for that one so Im sure that rating is not very accurate

I just got finished watching Laid To Rest and this movie is so terrible it makes THE BURNING rating go up from 6 to 600.

The Burning blows this filth out of the water.

Laid to Rest was a pathetic attempt at creating a new slasher villain, complete with the worst script I've seen in a horror film in recent years.

"My stepfather tried to rape me ... and he's a werewolf."

If The Burning is to showcase some special fx talent, then why can't you view Laid to Rest that way? The gore is quite good and the kills are inventive.
Maybe The Burning has that "nostalgia" factor, but it's still a Friday the 13th Clone.
The worst slasher I've ever seen was Valentine or something like that.

i dont know about everyone else, but this is my opinion. i like this chrome skull character better than this 2009 Jason.

The Buning was way better then this film, sure they both had outstnding gore, but The Burning never got boring. Which in my opinion this did.
