horror flick characters IQs

Anyone else flabbergasted at the incredible stupity of characters in these films? But especially the stupid broad at the beginning of this film. She had a perfecty good telephone connection and in an imbecilic stupor she destroyed her chances of having the phone traced. Then dimwittedly unaware that she had caused her own disconnection, she gets pissed off at the telephone instrument because she had caused the disconnection. What an idiot!
And then Tucker foolishly divides up from the girl and the guy whose mother had died, knowing how dangerous it was outside. Also, how did his brither-in-law notice Tucker in a car with the girl without Tucker noticing the brother-in-law?

Yep, those things you mentioned are what turned me off from this movie. That's just lazy writing right there.. Maybe when I was 10, I wouldn't notice things like that, but it's the reason I have to be so picky with horror these days.

I really enjoyed this movie - Great acting, great gore, just all around fun - but this one went farther than usual into stupid characters. How many different times can the same people get into a car, yet not get away? It must have been 5 or 6 in this movie. Also motivation, there is no way they would have done half the things they did in the situations they were in. Typically stuff like this ruins a movie for me, but somehow this movie kept me interested to the end despite these problems.

I just finished watching the movie and, yeah, you're right on the stupidity part. That demonic killer could've been anywhere and popped out at any moment, but the characters, knowing the danger, would split up or, worse yet, insist on stopping at every location while getting away in a car.
Yeah, of course, perfect movie cliche - those cell phones never work in trying to get help at the most crucial moments of crisis. It was stupid of her too to let the reciever rip from the cord while 911 was trying to trace the call. It was really suspenseful stuff though. I really enjoyed it. It had me gripped from beginning to end.

They survived the impossible...by doing the unthinkable.

The broad at the beginning was so stupid i turned off the movie after 10 minutes. I rarely turn off movies once i start watching them, but the stupidity in this one just made me angry.

Understandable but you should have at least checked out the kill scenes!

"Well, the stupid part is that the line would not have been disconnected by disconnecting the handset from the base. On that type of phone, the receiver (the button to hang up with) is on the base. Unless that was a different design than millions of phones that look exactly like it, you can unplug the handset and reconnect it and still have the connection.

Yeah, I know it was ripped out of the base, but most likely that would have been the same case as unplugging it. "

I was looking to see if someone mentioned that.

As others have mentioned, how many time are these idiots in cars and refuse to leave?

Yeah, starting it off like this turned me off right away. I was just like, "GET IT TOGETHER WOMAN!"

I find myself becoming less and less tolerant of stupid characters in horror movies as the years go on. They never make honest mistakes, but obvious ones that are the difference between rescue and death.

I wound up losing interest pretty quckly and missing half the movie when I grabbed my computer. I ended up missing the major plot points, but I just couldn't handle the idiocy of the characters.
