This could've been cooler

I like this movie as a throwback flick but they could have captured that '80s vibe much better. The film stock looked too polished and there was no electronic score. Not to mention they overdid themselves with the shaky-cam $hit, especially in the convenience store massacre scene.

Was this supposed to be like an 80s flick? I thought it was pretty entertaining & surprised how good it was.

Yeah, at least that's what it was hyped to be. I liked it, but I thought the filmmakers could have captured the '80s vibe a lot better with some grainier film stock, cheesy, old-school camera angles and an Italian synth score like the old giallos and slasher flicks.

Never was to big on 80s slasher films other than the popular Halloweens & Friday13ths. Can you recommend me some of the best that represent this 80s vibee your talking about?

Now I'm a fan of the 80s action movies with the basic plot & cheesy lines. Stallone probably was the best at it.

I agree, I never understood the hype surrounding 99 percent of those movies. But it is refreshing to see filmmakers today drive home that '80s vibe successfully, especially when the market is over-saturated with polished, big budget horror movies like it is now.

THE BURNING (1981) and MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981) are probably the best, but there is a long, long list of slasher flicks from back then that are just cheesy fun. I'll hook you up with a list when I can get a good one together.

UNCLE SAM (1997), THE GREENSKEEPER (2002), SHREDDER (2003), GUTTERBALLS (2008), THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL (2009) and BLOOD JUNKIE (2011) also capture the '80s atmosphere quite successfully.

I respectfully disagree. There are way too many throwback horror movies out there nowadays. We need more movies to symbolize this time frame. I enjoy throw backs as much as the next guy, but they can't all be that way. I tip my hat to this movie staying modern...although those little vhs tapes are a bit out of date.
