Really Good Movie!

I loved it.

Nice return to the slasher genre!

worst acting ever!

I'm surprised how many people complain about the acting in this film. Hasn't anybody seen more than a few slashers?

The acting is pretty good in comparison to many, many other films. People keep saying this movie feels amateur and badly acted...but a lot of films that are a lot more poorly made fare better on imdb.
It seems maybe the general populace (mainstream movie goers) have maybe found this film rather than the cult horror crowd. If only a cult audience was reviewing Laid to Rest, I think it would have a higher rating than a five out of ten.

I love slashers. It's my favourite type of horror, but even I thought the acting (at least from the lead) was pretty awful. I couldn't watch the rest of the film. I will eventually go back to watch the rest as the kill sequences are very good and it looks great, the only thing that makes me dislike it is the cringe inducing acting and some aspects of the script are just too weak scriptwriting that makes me scratch my head.
Otherwise it seems alright, but I haven't watched all of it yet so we'll see if I change my mind by the end.

And you can blame it on me, just set your guilt free honey, I don't want to hold you back now love.

Agreed.

There is slasher film bad (which is really good), then there is just plain bad, which this movie does have in some spots.

worst acting ever? ask yourself how do you react after waking up in a casket and being hit in the head with a bat

Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

reply

You may be right - not the worst acting, the worst writing/directing.

Yes, yes, that is much more honest.

Ahhhh Man! after watching that horriable friday the 13th movie "2009", this movie put a nice warm snuggley feeling back into my heart. it made me say YES! NOW THIS IS A SLASHER FLICK!

it gave me my gore!, i gave me my dope kills!

it had known tv actors and actresses in it

its was everything you would expect from a good ol fashion b-rated slasher film.

The acting is going to be bad and the story line is going to be chessy, but i knew that going in.

I thought is was funny when the bullet fell off into dead girls chest.

Plus, this movie had plenty of Andrew Dice Clay "ohhhhhh" moments

the knife going through dudes mouth, with the slice off the face finisher. the shot gun blast to dudes face. the eyes exploding from the tire sealant injection into the ear.

Man, much props to Robert Hall and the whole entire production crew and cast.

Maybe yall should get a crack on the friday the 13th series

A man Aint *beep* without fire

I actually thought this movie was great. I have no idea why so many people are complaining about it. Really, were you expecting Saving Private Ryan? It's a campy slasher horror movie and it did its job. I have seen movies with really bad acting and this wasn't one of them. I mean, it's not Oscar worthy, but not what I would call 'bad'. Also, I see people complaining about how the girl couldn't find the right words to say; like she would say 'dead box' for 'casket'. This was even listed as a goof. Well, the reason she couldn't find the right words to say was because she had been drugged. I had surgery and was put completely under and when I woke up, I could think, BUT I just could not get the correct words out of my mouth. So, I knew exactly why the girl couldn't say the right things. I don't know how so many people missed that. As far as the other plot holes, well, it's a cheesy horror movie. If the calvary comes running in to save them in the first 15 minutes, then it wouldn't be much of a movie, would it?

Overall, it's a fun film that's meant to be enjoyed, not pondered over.

She wasn't drugged, she was bashed on the head. That caused the loss of memory. Perhaps YOU failed to notice that.

There are plot holes and then there is utter stupidity and blatant nonsense. This was full of the latter.
They found a car early on and could have escaped without any problem...The writers job is to stop such a situation even happening.
NOT to have such a situation happen AND THEN use utterly farcical actions to get themselves out of the cock-up they wrote themselves into in the first place!

And that has nothing to do with what kind of film this may be. Cheesy Slasher included.
In fact such an excuse insults the 'cheesy Slashers' that DO have well crafted plotting.

It's a gore film made for the sake of gore...and at the risk of upsetting the oversensitive gore fiends that like this crap, it's TORTURE PORN!

It introduces a cavalcade of characters for no reason other than to produce the next murder sequence.

You're right...it's no oscar winner...but it makes "Friday the 13th" look like an oscar winner!!!
