I only saw this once that's why I'm posing this...does it get better upon repeat viewings? I liked it the first time but I feel like there's a lot of rapid-fire dialogue I didn't quite catch and a lot of subtle humor. So I was thinking this might get better if I can catch everything. Anyone's enjoyment go up on repeated viewings? Some movies are like that for sure.

Yes, I've seen it seven times, and I think that I've caught all the jokes now. I never tire of it.
You might also want to turn the subtitles on if the dialogue is too fast for you, especially if you are not a Brit. Also if you are not a Brit, you may want to look a lot of the expressions up on the internet, or ask us about them, because a lot of the dialogue doesn't mean what it means in U.S. English.

It definitely was for me because I couldn't understand a third of the things Malcolm was saying on my first viewing... Scottish accents are just too hard to understand for me, especially if you're spewing them out as fast as Malcolm is doing.

Yes, most definitely!! I catch something different every time. I'd rather keep the subtitles off but it is helpful to keep them on. I just tend to enjoy these dialog rich films over several viewings. Initially, the cast is what drew me, the mix of American and UK actors. Also this is just how my brain works, I think, meaning I don't always catch everything that's said when dialog is so fast. Plus the addition of politics makes, too. Makes these types of films classic. I don't even watch The Office or any of those show, not to say that I don't enjoy films from across the pond or outside the US for that matter, but this was filled with awful characters who yell at each other and don't know what the hell is going on half the time...hilarious. Less people not forget, IT'S A SATIRE!

I would imagine this film does get better on repeat viewings. I certainly give it the benefit of the doubt in that regard.
shareI've seen it twice and there really is so much going on in the film that I had to look it up on Wikipedia to get the full story, especially the ending. It was a great film, but requires absolute attention, and an understanding of the British government helps.
shareIt helps, but the plot isn't what makes this film so amazing. The acting is awesome and the writing is nearly perfect. Plot, schmot. Who cares about the plot?
