Lol no. I think they were both Newbery Award books that are on a lot of grade school reading curriculums.

Yes, but I disliked M. C. Higgins, the Great and wonder why anyone would compare The Great Gilly Hopkins to it negatively.

I didn't read either of them. My mind just associates all those Newbery books together. Jacob, have I Loved. Call it Courage. Caddie Woodlawn. The list goes on and on.
