considering locations, no music, unknown actors (and bad), I only recognize (besides mel), Damian young the bus driver of pete and pete, haha it`s funny, now he is a US senator..

You've never heard of Ray Winstone ? Danny Huston and Frank Grillo have been acting for years and featured in plenty of films and done much tv work, likewise Jay O'Sanders for that matter.

Haha! I thought exactly the same thing! I recognised many of the actors, however I couldnt see where they spent all that money. What I mean is there was no CGI, no elaborate car chases or special effects or anything of that sort. I liked the movie, just cant see where the money went.

i cant see mel gibson gettin a big paycheque either seein as he wasnt bankable at the time so its a mystery where the 60-80 million budget went

Gibson was bankable at the time... He became a flop at the box-office after the tapes. Apocalypto was a success following his DUI.

Seems to me location shoot in Boston is bigger $$$ compared to, say, location shoot in Cleveland faked as Boston. Actually, thinking back, I can't even say most of it was actually shot in Boston as no particular landmark shots stuck in my mind... maybe the train station scene, all 10 seconds of it...

Well camera crews are pretty expensive these days among other things, not just the stars get paid, theres a crew of around 200-300 who work on a movie. We're talking editors, writers, stunt crews, directors, producers etc etc they all need paying too, 60 million is an average budget for a film like this as apposed to a superhero film like The Avengers which cost around 260 million.

I've seen "better" movies with a mere budget of a million dollars. After seeing the total budget I have no idea how they spent that amount of money on this movie. It wasn't awful but it wasn't nearly as good as the rating on imdb... Let me put it like this if Mel Gibson wouldn't have been in the movie I would have turned off right after his daughter got shot. That scene was just bad at so many levels.

There were good and star level actors in this. Most movies cost more money than that. Not sure what you think movies cost.

There is no music. NO MUSIC! you're crazy. *beep* Howard Shore composed the soundtrack for the film. *beep* Howard Shore! Do you know who is Howard Shore? Is he composed the soundtrack of the trilogy The Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson, man.

I agree the OP is ignorant, but I'm not sure how this reasonably low key thriller, with no big set piece action scenes cost $80 (not 60) million to put together.🐭
