“What You Are About To Watch Is Based On True Events”

Lmao. How is this even legal? To make a film with a wide theatrical release sold on the events being real when they’re all 100% fiction?

A new low in film making. Movies made for stupid people.

The key word here is BASED.

You start with some true events. Then you start exaggerating, embellishing and extrapolating. You add in some things that didn't actually happen to make the story more interesting, and then you cover up and ignore some realities that don't work with the story you really want to tell. Eventually your story will no longer resemble the actual true events.

A filmmaker can get away with all of this by simply using the word BASED, and justify it by saying, "I'm not a reporter, I'm a storyteller."
