'Signs' Vs. 'The Fourth Kind'

As far as alien invasion/abduction films go, these two probably have to be the scariest. To me, these two films did something that other alien invasion/abduction films didn't, which was leaving the mystery of the aliens for the audience to contemplate. But, which one is better?

Signs felt realistic because of viewing the film from the family's perspective. The alien spacecrafts also resemble real life UFO sightings like the phoenix lights. Although the logic of their invasion tactics falls short because of running around earth naked being all the more vulnerable to water, it still felt more realistic that way. The film throughout is fantastic, and I think that more and more film makers could really learn from this.

The Fourth Kind did some pretty far fetched things to make us believe it was real, like creating the family homicide, and then re-creating it. Whilst watching it, you can easily see what kind of film it's trying to be, but fails to deliver the emotionally compelling story that it promises. BUT, I did enjoy the abduction footage and what not through the whole found footage thing. I thought it was a nice choice and gave the film a sense of perspective, except for actually giving the audience something to bicker about. The symbolism of the owl was a nice touch, also.

I think that Signs comes first, just by a little. It doesn't try to be anything that it isn't, and is easily an original story.

Signs was one of the most horribly written movies I've ever seen. I'm so very sorry that you found it realistic in any way.

Horribly written? I can't see how you think that but, having said that, I didn't think that the movie Legion was bad at all and it's arguably one of the worst films (according to the general public) ever made.

I loved Signs so much and i agree with you about the realism of it. That movie is one of my all time favorite movies.
