Why the a-hole Chief of Police would not believe her--

Is what I wanna know?

Especially after the fact that his very own police officer, who he assigned to watch the home, witnesses the effing abduction?!

He(the police officer posted outside the Tyler home the night Ashley was abducted) states that he saw something hovering/flying over the home, AND he states that he saw the family members being sucked up, and out of their home.

So, please tell me just why in the hell after not only his own officer witnessed, but also described in detail what happened, along with the fact that there was an entire plethora of video/audio documentation that while may not have been crystal clear, but certainly was clear enough to see exactly what happened to each of the people in question.

So, again WTF? Why did he continue to not believe her?

I get that its a fiction movie AND my question is one regarding the basis of the storyline and why the hell the Chief refused to believe her when there was corroborating evidence, including his very own officer having given a first hand, eye witness account!?

I thought that it was obvious, sheriff had had the same experiences and he was unable/refused to believe that it was happening to himself too and thus he was scared and tried to find any evidence whatsoever that could prove him and the rest wrong.

I know I sure wanted to punch him in the face and beat the *beep* out of him.
