This movie scared me

I love horror films since being a lad. I laugh at some, critique most, but rarely find one that legit scares me. Im 27 years old and this film scared me silent on first view, gave me nightmares and stopped me from going in the basement to get the clothes out of the dryer. To each their own, this film frightened me.

You are not the only one, buddy. I am 28 years old now, but I watched this film when it came out in 2009 and it did indeed scare the crap out of me. That might've been a little amplified by the fact that I more than halfway bought into the fake documentary style storytelling and wondered if it couldn't be (at least partly) true. I watched it again maybe 2 or 3 years ago and it still gave me nightmares and creeped me out for the next 3 days, lol.

To this day, I consider it one of the scariest sci-fi horrors I ever watched and it's definitely the best alien abduction movie, to me.

It might not be that scary to some, and I think what resonated with me most is how the movie approached the "aliens", not as some scaly or insect-like CGI monstruosity, but with complete mystery. I think there's something powerful about actually making you believe these aliens are so horrifying that you'd literally go mad and kill yourself if you saw or heard them. And all that without actually showing them.

Lastly, I heartilly recommend the movie Dark Skies (2013) if you enjoyed this one. It's the most similar movie to The Fourth Kind I ever found and it's pretty good on its own.

Yes my friend! Dark Skies is my close second behind this one. I loved that film also and it gave me that excellent fright that is so hard to find these days!
