Coulda been better with different 'bad guy'
OK, I have watch this movie numerous times and I think the part that rankles me the absolute most is Robert De Niro's character. I am aware he is a very lauded and reverred actor but I think he brought a bit too much "Scarface", "Godfather", "Meet the Fockers" to the role..... I believe he has begun a phase in his career where he feels he needs to be in about every fourth movie that is produced every year? And I personally feel that his depth is pretty limited.
A more subtle, sneaky, less in-your-face actor in that role would have been a wiser route. David Straitharn is the first name that comes to mind? He can play an excellent bad guy, smart man, best friend? You name it.
Anyway, I obviously do not live in Hollywood and have nothing to do with making these decisions? I'm just a movie fan, just my opinion .... And you know what they say; everybody has one of those just like they have.... Well, ya know ;-)
