with TV series cancelled, Limitless needs a direct movie sequel that would ignore the TV series.

I've been wondering WHY Bradley Coopers character is the baddy in the TV series. He's not in the movie, is he?

He's morally dubious in the movie, a drug-abuser and thief. NZT gives him ambition and direction, but not morality.

Brian, in the TV series, has a strong moral center, which makes him an interesting foil to Morra.

They're antagonists, but not necessarily "good" vs. "bad."

I bet a real movie sequel would be better than the TV series... given the cast returns and they get a good team of writers. I wouldn’t say it calls for a sequel and I doubt it’ll happen, though nothing will hold me from watching it.
