Any DVD or US Theatrical Release Info?

I have searched thoroughly, but have found no information on this. It is not available on DVD in any country that I could find. Does anyone else have any information that I don't. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to see this. I'm a?huge fan of Bong joon-ho.

It's been announced at the New York Film Festival. I don't think it has a US distributor yet but it's likely to get one because of The Host.

It's been announced as South Korea's entry for Best Foreign Picture, so any distributer that may want it would be waiting to see what happens there. Chances are, given the success of the director's previous films, we will see it here, but if it is indeed nominated it will likely be a little later (perhaps to give it a run like Japan's Departures).

I'm well aware of Magnolia buying the US rights for it. However, having to wait until next year to see it completely dampens my excitement. Magnolia unnecessarily sat on Ong-Bak 2 - being released later next month - for a rather long time.

As far as I'm concerned, the only news worth getting excited about is a Korean or an HK DVD release date. If anybody out there speaks Korean and can scour Korean sites for DVD release info it would be immensely appreciated.

Its out on DVD in Korea.

I recommend checking out the website www.seoulselection.com

Ive been to their store in Seoul, they are legit and very friendly. Their prices are a little bit above regular shops in Korea but still okay. And they ship abroad.

Mother is not on the site yet, but it should be any time soon.

Cheers

I read the articles posted and there's still not a definitive US DVD release date. It says it'll be in theatres "early next year" (most of the articles were written in August) and that's it.

I cannot find info on his anywhere. It's not on Amazon either. Anyone actually know when this movie will be available?

It opens theatrically in NY and LA on March 12th and then rolls out to other cities throughout March, April and May: http://www.magpictures.com/dates.aspx?id=8315e3cf-f3a3-48be-a125-888c6 6a4dabf

Those are all for the States. I'm a Canadian. But thanks all the same.

On March 12th in Montreal too. I don't know for the rest of Canada.

I'm a Newfoundlander. I've checked the theaters in my area and they aren't playing it. Not a big surprise though.

You can pick it up on blu ray from yesasia.com. It's a Korean blu ray, but Korean blu rays are region A just like American blus so it will play on any American blu ray player. The menu is in Korean but it's not too hard to figure out how to play the movie and you can turn the English subs on with your remote. The next option is to wait for the inevitable Magnolia release or live in a New York and L.A. and catching the limited theatrical run.

Is this On Demand?

reply

I really, really wish they'd hurry up and give this a NA DVD release dammit.

reply

I just checked Amazon.com and it looks like US DVD release is July 20, 2010!

Just saw the movie on an Air Canada international flight.
Then downloaded the HD version using torrent.
Beautiful wide screen and AC3 sound.
Better than the one on the plane.
Therefore the Blu Ray version already existed somewhere.
