Not clear what happens for much Boon-Jo's latest

All I can remember about this film is it getting a lot of hype, liking the director previous films, seeing it, and then being utterly befuddled. Not in a good way, more like Wtf just happened (not in the David Lynch mode of WTF).... It went a little overboard on the twists or maybe my screening didn't have good subtitles so I didn't get key dialogue.
One review said that the "Ive slept with my mother" joke was revealed to have a darker side to it, and I just don't remember that being shown in the film. By the end, I just had not the faintest clue who was being implicated as the murderer. I also didn't understand the guy who was helping with the investigation (on the mothers side) for a while- it seemed like he was dropped by the story after the writers tired of him.
Another review claims that the mother is a twisted character, I saw little evidence of this in my screening. She was strange, but not in a very dark way.

Watch the movie again, that's all i can say.

''Never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you."

you either had extremely bad subtitles (i'm not sure how that is possible), or you just completely missed everything in the movie.

watch it again and pay attention. every single one of your complaints is answered in the movie (some more obvious than others).

and if you don't think the mother is a twisted character, i would be interested to know at what point a person becomes twisted?

It just seemed like she was trying to help her son, thats it. I didn't get who was guilty of what, there was one dream sequence with a rock, I think, but I couldn't tell if this was meant to be reality.. I don't think I've ever missed the point of a movie as much as this one.

I really don't see why you are having such problems with the film, it's a fairly linear narative. The scene with the rock wasn't a dream sequence, it was a flashback. I seems like you were asleep during the last 30 minutes of the film if you thought that the mother acted in a reasonable way.
