Teach your children to turn the other cheek, unless they hit you first. Didn't Mother say that to Do-joon anyway, when visiting him in prison. Don't let anyone bully you and hit them only if they hit you first.

I don't think the movie is going for any particular message at all. It's an exploration of moral dilemmas.
