Bong Joon-ho is quickly becoming one of the best film-makers around

I just watched Mother for the first time today & was blown away, I loved The Host but this was just next level. I still haven't had the chance to see Memories of Murder but I'm dying to, how does it compare to The Host & Mother?

I've seen all three and I think Memories of Murder slightly edges out the other two. I liked them all pretty equally though. Great films, but I feel he hasn't had his masterpiece yet. Hopefully he comes out with one because I think he does have the potential.

OP, Memories of Murder is one of my favorite films of the decade. You will not be disappointed. Rent it as soon as possible...

Yeah, DarkoZombie, please see Memories of Murder, you will NOT be disappointed especially since you are a fan of Bong Joon-ho's films already. Quentin Tarantino put it on his top 5 best films to come out since he has been directing in the 90's

Out of Memories of Murder, Mother and The Host... Mother is the only one I really liked. But even then I didn't love it. All of his movies have great acting, amazing cinematography, a good screenplay and a few laughs... but each of them far lacked a certain something, a certain interest or spark (like suspense or tension), that made me feel ultimately distant from the film.

^^ is wrong,Memories of Murder is brilliant. In my mind one of the best investigative thriller films to come out since Silence of the Lambs. I can't think of any other modern film that evokes the noirish feeling this film does. Off the top, films that compare would be Silence of the Lambs,Chinatown,....?what else

I've seen all three. Memories of Murder is definitely my favorite. I really liked Mother too, but The Host was sort of a disappointment for me. I didn't hate it, but it just didn't get me, like the others.

Personally I liked Mother the best out of the three films but Memories of Murder is still definitely worth seeing as is The Host.

'Memories of Murder' is brilliant. Visually beautiful, the characters are colorful, and the music is amazing. There are few movies where I could say a film is able to be funny, tragic, and incredibly suspenseful. The rain scene with the umbrella--freaky.

Then, I love the use of irony in his films, which brings it to the next level.

His debut film "Barking Dogs Never Bite" may be hard to find, but it's worth looking into as well.
